Paul McCartney voudrait sortir la chanson 'Now And Then', composée par John Lennon en 1978.
Une source a révélé : 'La chanson des Beatles 'Now and Then' est terminée.

Rumors are again starting to mount about the third "lost" Beatles track, called "Now And Then," the unreleased composition recorded by John Lennon in 1978, and was mentioned as a possible third
new Beatles song around the time of Anthology in 1995.
An anonymous inside source tells Beatles News, "Its confirmed very high up. There is no doubt, none. The Beatles song "Now And Then" is finished. All four Beatles are on the track. The original
Beatles reunion version from 1995 was embellished with numerous additional sessions over the last two years by Paul McCartney. Paul wants it out badly, according to high placed sources. It is
said the song sounds very Beatley."
The anonymous insider goes on to say, "There is no doubt the song is finished, none, or that the finishing touches were done over the last couple years. There is no doubt that all four Beatles
are on the track. I heard that George Harrison sings back up as well as playing at least one guitar. It is thought McCartney sings at least some back up, if not more and plays several
instruments. It is also possible he wrote additional sections to the song. Why it is not out, I dont know. My sources cannot be revealed but they are very reliable."
"Now and Then" was written by John Lennon in the late 1970s, around the same time as "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love". The unfinished piece of music was originally recorded by Lennon in a demo form at his home at the Dakota Building, New York City, circa 1979.
In January 1994, Paul McCartney was given two tape cassettes by John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono that included home recordings of songs Lennon never completed or released commercially. The songs on the tape included the eventually completed and released "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love", in addition to two other songs "Grow Old With Me" and "Now and Then". In March 1995, the three surviving Beatles began work on "Now and Then" by recording a rough backing track that was to be used as an overdub. However, after only two days of recording, all work on the song ceased and plans for a third reunion single were scrapped permanently.
According to Paul McCartney, George Harrison "didn't want to do it," possibly because new verses would have had to be written. Producer Jeff Lynne reported that "It was one day – one afternoon, really – messing with it. The song had a chorus but is almost totally lacking in verses. We did the backing track, a rough go that we really didn't finish." An additional factor behind scrapping the song was a technical defect in the original recording. Like Real Love, a 60 cycles mains hum can be heard throughout Lennon's demo recording. However, it was much louder on the Now and Then recording, therefore making it much harder to remove.
Throughout 2005 and 2006, press reports speculated that McCartney and Starr would release a complete version of the song in the future. On
April 29, 2007, it was reported in the Daily Express that the song may be released to coincide with the
Beatles catalogue being released for the first time via digital download. Additional reports circulated that same year
that Paul McCartney was hoping to complete the song as a "Lennon/McCartney composition" by writing new verses, laying down a new drum track recorded by Ringo, and utilizing archival recordings of
George Harrison's guitar work.
In April 2008, The Sun reported that "there have been discussions about finishing 'Now and Then.'" From there, the story was picked up and repeated by a number of music and entertainment media sources.
The only (unofficial) available recording of the song is Lennon's original demo. In February 2009, the same version of Lennon's recording was released on a bootleg CD, taken from a different source, with none of the "buzz" which hampered the Beatles recording of the song in 1995. The overdubs added in 1995 by the other surviving members have yet to surface.
A popular fan remix from 2007 called the "1995 edit" consists of John Lennon's original demo along with instrumental overdubs
by an unspecified artist and samples from various 1960s Beatles songs. Contrary to repeated misconception, this remix does not contain any of the work that the three surviving members of The
Beatles may have done for the track in the 1990s

A new Beatles song is to be released. 'Now And Then' - which was composed by John Lennon in 1978 and later worked on by Sir Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr when they reunited to work on the Beatles Anthology project in 1995 - never got released, but McCartney has been adding to it and is now keen for fans to hear the track. A source said: "The Beatles song 'Now And Then' is finished. All four Beatles are on the track. The original Beatles reunion version from 1995 was embellished with numerous sessions over the last two years by Paul McCartney. "He wants the song to come out very badly." As well as featuring Lennon - who was shot dead in 1980 - and McCartney on vocals, Harrison, who passed away in 2001, also sings backing vocals and plays guitar. If the track does get a release it will be the first new Beatles song to come out since 1996's 'Real Love', which was composed by Lennon and later re-recorded by McCartney, Harrison and Starr with Lennon's original vocal part. McCartney, 67, had also wanted to release the unheard 'Carnival of Light', a 14-minute composition, but Harrison was against the plans. (Beatlesradio.com)
